From triathletes to restaurant owners, Impel has some amazing employees in its ranks. We’re introducing you to a new employee every month as part of our Employee Spotlight Series, giving you an inside look at our charismatic culture. This month, we’re introducing you to Andy Perrin, a member of our Product Team with a passion for the outdoors and mountain biking.
Tell us about your role at Impel.
I work as a Product Owner on the team, focusing on our dealer web tools which consist of anything from 360° WalkArounds, Feature Tour and F&I Advantage, to our Impel Manager platform.
Which core value resonates the most with you?
Definitely Curiosity. From a product perspective, it’s important to have an inquisitive mindset to ask good questions and make sure we are building the right tools for our customers. Even generally speaking, I like to keep an “always learning” attitude and dive into learning new skills where I can.
What do you enjoy most about your position at Impel?
It’s always exciting to see the collaborative nature of our team and the things we can accomplish. Since starting at Impel almost four years ago (woah, time flies!), it’s incredible to think about the amount of work we’ve done, and where it’s gotten us. Watching those results build over time has been awesome to see.
The Product team is constantly working on ways to improve the Impel product and bring new capabilities to automotive retailers. What new projects are you most excited about?
We have some really cool things planned to level-up how dealers can merchandise their inventory. From new iterations of Feature Tour, improvements to our core 360 WalkArounds, and new applications for how we leverage computer vision, we’re going to be releasing some great features and tools that are really going to further set us apart and improve our platform.
Where are your favorite cities in the world and why?
You can’t go wrong with New York City. I always enjoyed heading down there to meet with our NYC team and check out any cool restaurants – hopefully that can happen again soon! With that being said, Boston is definitely a close second. I always found it was a great city to just walk around and find something new.
When weather permits, you’ve been known to spend your free time mountain biking. Where are your favorite spots in Upstate New York?
There are a surprising amount of places to choose from, but my go-to spots are Morgan Hill, Shindagin Hollow down in Ithaca, or McCauley Ski Resort up in Old Forge. If it’s a day I don’t feel like climbing, then Greek Peak is pretty fun too.
How else do you spend your free time?
Also weather permitting, it can be anything from snowboarding, having a game night with some friends, or hanging out at a local brewery (definitely check out Meier’s Creek if you haven’t yet!). If you had to place a bet though, chances are I’m probably on a bike somewhere.
Andy’s passion and curiosity throughout his nearly four years with Impel make him a go-to resource for anything and everything that has to do the Impel product suite and we’re lucky to have him on our team! Follow us on the Impel Facebook and Impel Instagram pages for updates. You won’t want to miss next month’s spotlight on Ben Cooper, a Managing Director based out of our UK office.
