Yesterday we announced that Impel has acquired Outsell, a leading automotive customer engagement platform provider. This strategic transaction brings together two industry powerhouses and sets the stage for many exciting technology innovations to come. Together, we will create the auto industry’s first end-to-end AI Sales and Marketing Automation platform.

About Outsell

Founded in 2004 by serial entrepreneur Mike Wethington, Outsell is based in Minneapolis and employs 170 people. Powered by first-party data, machine learning technology and predictive AI models, Outsell’s customer engagement platform leverages millions of data points and real-time customer behavioral cues to automate and optimize outreach at scale. Their platform is currently used by more than 2,000 dealers, as well as OEMs and Tier 2 regional associations.  

In the past 12 months, the company has delivered more than 500 million messages via SMS text, email, direct mail, and social media to 61 million consumers.

Our combined staff now totals 450 employees, including 180 product, engineering, and R&D team members working to develop innovative new products that drive meaningful business results for dealers. With 130 customer success and technical support team members, Impel will bring learnings and best practices to customers informed by our collective experience in serving more than 8,000 dealers around the globe. Over the next several months, we’ll be working hard to integrate teams and technology, ensuring we prioritize the success of our customers along the way.

As we integrate our platforms and introduce powerful new capabilities, we’ll provide updates on a regular basis. Our goal is to become even more valuable to our customers with cutting-edge Automotive AI solutions that drive efficiency, revenue, and greater customer retention for automotive retailers, partners, and OEMs around the world.
