Impel Names Storm Chaser Award Winners

The Storm Chaser Award is a quarterly employee recognition program in which peers nominate colleagues for work that exceeds expectations and goes above and beyond what’s required in their job description. Storm Chasers help enhance our culture, proactively seek solutions, and affect positive change within the company.

During our recent company meeting – the first in-person office event we’ve had since the start of the pandemic – we celebrated new hires and promotions, evaluated goals, made plans for 2021, and caught up with one another at a happy hour after a year’s worth of Zoom meetings. We also announced the latest incredible nominees, featuring both new and repeat employees, who were recognized for work that goes above and beyond expectations. The nominations spoke to each candidate’s dedication and shared examples of how each employee lives out Impel’s values.

We’re excited to announce the winners of Impel’s first-quarter Storm Chaser Award: Jon Clark, Ray Gill, and Johnathan Spence. Check out our winners and the great things their peers had to say about each of them.

OriginalJon Clark, Regional Manager

“Jon has dived headfirst into his new responsibilities. I have been SO impressed with how he has proactively looked at every possible angle to make sure he is leaving no stone unturned, ensuring maximum winback potential.”

“Most significantly, Jon has demonstrated curiosity and grit to learn a new skill – Salesforce reporting. He has gone outside of his wheelhouse, asking lots of questions and learning how to gather as much data as possible to set himself up for success in identifying potential opportunities.”

“The numbers speak for themselves…what he is doing is truly making a difference.”

When asked what being a Storm Chaser means to him, Jon said “Receiving the Storm Chaser Award just solidifies why I love what I do. I get to work with the best people in the industry. The hustle of everyday work is well worth it when you get to share these special moments with your team. I feel humbled to have been chosen for this award and truly honored that I get the opportunity to work with this team.”

“I have been so impressed with how he has gone above and beyond and stepped way outside the normal responsibilities of his role.”

“Ray has had to learn a lot about technical integrations and the needs of feed providers, etc. He does it all with a very positive attitude – never complaining that “it’s not my job,” but instead commenting about how much he has learned and how much better prepared for questions he will be in the future.”

“He has demonstrated true ownership, determination, and grit.”

When asked what being a Storm Chaser means to him, Ray said “Being named a Storm Chaser is a huge honour. Team Impel is all about grit, hard work and passion and that culture in the company is contagious. I joined Impel last August in the middle of the pandemic and haven’t got the chance to meet any of my co-workers in person since the Canadian border has been closed. Through Zoom meetings and Slack the entire company has made me feel welcomed and they are always willing to step up and help to get the job done. That is what motivates me every day – I want to make sure I am always pushing myself and doing what I can for the team that always has my back.”

Original (25)Johnathan Spence, Accounts Receivables Specialist

“Spence always makes time to help members of his team and other Impel teams despite how much work he has on his own plate.”

“Through Spence’s diligence, hard work and true Impel Grit, the transition to a new platform went extremely smooth and was virtually seamless to most customers.”

“Spence truly exemplifies Impel’s core values every day.”

When asked what being a Storm Chaser means to him, Spence said “To me, a Storm Chaser is someone who wants to see the team succeed more than anything. They are always doing what is best for Impel, and not just what is best for themselves. I truly believe everyone at this company has this same mentality, and to be recognized by this group of people is an incredible honor. I couldn’t have asked for a more driven, and passionate team.”

We could not be more proud of these three Storm Chasers. They embody everything Impel stands for and are wonderful assets to our team! We are excited to continue to reward and recognize employees with this award every quarter throughout the year.
